Devon County Show 2011- Day 1
Published on May 19, 2011
Its the end of the first day here at the show and so far, it’s been pretty good. There are numerous advantages to being a sponsor and the weather has been great.
Sponsoring the Young Farmers Club is pretty cool – they’re a great bunch and why people don’t go and shake all farmers by the hand and say “Thank you for putting food on my plate” amazes me. Its a great show.
Being a sponsor is cool because I get to have my lunch in the Presidents marquee. Get me! Here is where you meet people who can make a difference – land owners, contractors – all sorts of people who can effect policy. These are the people who can make a difference.
Stuck inside a tent though and carrying a kilo bar of gold around in your pockets gets quite tiring. It is nice to see the reactions of people though when they actually see bullion – it is the first time for most.
Get down to the show. Connecting with farmers, producers, beekeepers, cooks, gardener’s gives you so much more because you’re connecting with yourself. Come on down and learn something.
