Description
Canadian Gold Maple, 1 Troy oz coin - the official bullion gold coin of Canada. 24 Carat pure gold coin, which is very popular with investors. This coin has a face value of $50.00
The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin was first introduced in 1979. At the time the only gold bullion coin was the South African Krugerrand, which was not widely available because of the economic boycott of apartheid in South Africa. 1 oz. Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins minted between 1979 and 1982 had a gold content of .999. Starting in 1982, the bullion coin has had the fineness of .9999, making them one of the purest gold coins regularly issued in the world.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 1 oz. Canadian Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, designed by Susanna Blunt. "ELIZABETH II" is inscribed across the top of the gold bullion coin. The face value of "50 DOLLARS" and the year the coin was issued are inscribed across the bottom of the gold bullion coin.
Reverse
The reverse side of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin features the National symbol of Canada, the Maple Leaf. Above the golden maple leaf, "CANADA" is inscribed across the top of the bullion coin. "FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR" is displayed along the bottom of the bullion coin.
The coins' purity of "9999" is inscribed on both sides of the maple leaf.
