Introduced in 2007, the Australian Silver Koala bullion coins are from Australia’s famous Perth Mint.
The silver bullion coin has legal tender status which means the precious metal content is guaranteed by the Government of Australia.
Obverse
The obverse displays the profile of Queen Elizabeth II by designer Ian Rank-Broadley. His initial's are engraved directly below the Queen's neck. Encircling the Queen's profile are the words "ELIZABETH II", "1 DOLLAR" and "AUSTRALIA." The coin's year of issue is also inscribed along the outer perimeter of the silver bullion coin.
Reverse
The reverse side of the bullion coin receives a new portrait of a Koala in different poses and settings each year. Inscribed on the lower half of the reverse side of the Australian Silver Koala is the weight "1oz" and the purity of "999 SILVER." Just like the Kookaburra the Koala has the Mint Mark of "P" representing the Perth Mint.
Note:
The designers initials will also be found inscribed in the lower half of the silver bullion coin, the designer's initials on the reverse side often changes from year to year.
