The Chinese Silver Panda bullion coins had started with limited production in 1983 as the demand for the coin was being tested by the government. The first Silver Panda coins issued in 1983, 1984 and 1985 were minted in proof-like quality. No silver Pandas were issued in 1986, however, they were restarted in 1987. In 1989, the Chinese government started to officially mint the silver bullion panda annually. Unfortunately, accurate mintage numbers before 1989 are extremely hard to find.
Obverse
Displayed in the center of the obverse side of the Chinese Silver Panda bullion coin is the Hall of Prayer for Good Havests of the Temple of Heaven. Chinese characters inscribed across the top of the coin says; "Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo" meaning "People's Republic of China" The year the bullion coin was issued is displayed across the bottom of the silver coin.
Reverse
The reverse features a different portrait of a single panda or multiple Chinese pandas every year. The coins face value of 10 Yaun is displayed at the top of the silver bullion coin. The weight "1oz" and purity "Ag.999" are inscribed at the bottom of the bullion coin.
